MURDER AT
|
|
Unpopular Obadiah Burke has finally achieved his ambition of becoming Mayor of the sleepy seaside town of Bludd on Sands - and is determined to make changes. His mayoral acceptance speech, laying out his plans to make Bludd on Sands a seaside town of the 21st century, sends shivers of horror through the folk of the town. And a few days later Obadiah is found murdered. One of the townsfolk must be guilty. Fortunately the puzzle book recipient is holidaying in the town, and the "Bludd on Sands' Bugle" asks them to work out which of eight suspects, eight weapons and eight locations are guilty!

Solving the puzzles will allow the investigator to eliminate suspects, weapons and locations until only the guilty items remain.
However the eight underlined puzzles are the suspects' own personal puzzles. The investigator will need to be on their guard, as the suspect who actually murdered Obadiah will be deliberately providing a puzzle where the solution provides misinformation. After all, they don't want to be caught!

OTHER ITEMS TO DISCOVER
As well as solving the mystery, the puzzle book recipient will need to try and answer the following four questions:
- What word/phrase runs through the centre of the investigator's stick of confectionery rock?
- What toast will the real ale drinkers of the "Smugglers Rest Inn" make to the
investigator.
- Should the investigator successfully solve the crime, the Bludd on Sands' citizens have arranged for a celebratory concert at the bandstand. Which singer/band have they booked specially for the event?
- Who does the Bludd on Sands' Sea Monster bears an uncanny resemblance to!
TWO BOOKS EACH WITH A DIFFERENT SOLUTION
There are two different books to choose from - Book 1 and Book 2. Each book has a different solution. For instance in book 1 Abel might have used the spade to commit the murder at the lifeboat slipway. While in book 2 Madeline might have used the weever fish venom on the promenade. Also, where possible, the individual puzzles within the books have different solutions.
This enables you to give a copy of "Murder at the Seaside" to two people living in the same house/going on the same holiday and each of them will still have their own unique challenge.

MERRYMURDER SWEEPSTAKE
There is also provision in the book to have a merrymurder sweepstake. Before puzzling commences, interested parties can draw suspects, weapons, and locations from a hat. When the solution is discovered, those people who drew the guilty suspect, weapon, and location can each claim a small prize.
